Day 41 - Unity
Diversity gives variety to life and is often only on the surface. Our challenge is to see beyond outer differences in opinions and appearances. There is peace and nonviolence in unity as we recognize ourselves in others, a transformation from separation to unity.
Reflection
- The notion of unity does not imply lack of diversity.
- Rather, it speaks to the threads of connection running through all that is.
- What makes us all the same, despite our differences?
Action
- Think of three people that you feel separate from.
- Now, write down ten things that you have in common with those people.
- Write or draw about how it feels to focus on your similarities rather than your differences.

Lailah Gifty Akita
“Unity is strength... when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.”
Mattie Stepanek
“The reason why the world lacks unity, and lies broken and in heaps, is, because man is disunited with himself.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
“The history of our spiritual life is a continuing search for the unity between ourselves and the world.”
Rudolf Steiner
“Do not follow the ideas of others, but learn to listen to the voice within yourself. Your body and mind will become clear and you will realize the unity of all things.”
Dogen
“What I'm not confused about is the world needing much more love, no hate, no prejudice, no bigotry and more unity, peace and understanding. Period.”
Stevie Wonder
“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.”
Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
“We are all connected; To each other, biologically. To the earth, chemically. To the rest of the universe atomically.”
Neil DeGrasse Tyson
